In pursuance of the scheme proposed by the Railway Board in 1950 , six zonal systems , viz the northern , north-eastern , eastern , southern , central and western , were created during the next two years सन् 1950 में रेलवे बोर्ड द्वारा प्रस्तावित योजना के अनुसार , आगामी दो वर्षों में , छह क्षेत्रीय पद्धतियों-उत्तर , उत्तर पूर्वी , पूर्वी , दक्षिणी , मध्य और पश्चिमी रेलवे की स्थापना हुई .
